Reasons to Renovate

Whilst there are a plethora of reasons to renovate your existing property, they will all be driven by one of the following reasons

1. Increased family size

Our families are always growing, if not by size then by age. With age comes the need for space – whether its the kids needing study space for college, inlaws coming to stay or the addition of a little bundle of joy, all of these situations require extra space.

This can be as simple as a reconfiguration of your existing layout to add an extra bathroom (try sharing a bathroom with a teenager and you’ll understand why this is one of the most requested renovations) or extending your home to accommodate new additions. Whatever your need for space, we can provide the solution.

2. Add value/equity

Whether your looking to sell in the near future and want to add value, or your wanting to increase and leverage the equity in your home for other property ventures, renovating is one of the easiest ways to achieve this. Even small renovations can increase a homes value and go a long way.

3. Increase comfort and function of the home.

Maybe you’re looking to stay put for the foreseeable future and would like to make the home as user friendly and functional as possible. Changing the layout, renovating bathrooms and kitchens or adding walk in robes are all great ways to upgrade your existing home to fit your current lifestyle. Home automation and lighting are great options to upgrade while your at it and can have a compounding effect making life not just easier, but better.

4. Fix problems and remediate safety issues

A huge reason people look to renovate is to improve health and fix issues in their current home. Whether your property is leaking and in turn creating mould and health problems or it was never properly insulated and the winters are becoming unbearable, the quicker the issue is remedied the quicker you will see the drastic effect a warm & dry home will have on your’s and your families health and well being – this then spills over into all aspects of our lives.

5. Street Appeal

This ties in with every point listed so far, but one of the biggest benefits of renovating can be the added street appeal. Even if your not looking to sell, recladding your property or upgrading joinery and painting your home has a huge impact on the street appeal of any property. This again has a huge effect on our personal lives, creating a sense of pride and joy when we return to a home we are proud to call our own.

House

Why now?

The current building boom may be a pandemic-inspired craze, but many of the life changes people are designing around are here to stay. “I don’t think that there will ever be a regret about adding functionality and flexibility to your home,” says Sam, Director. “Even if everyone’s back to work and back to school, we have been forever changed in the way we use our homes.” What you might regret most is not going for it: Some economists project that housing and building prices will continue to trend upward for the next three to four years, which means you’ll save more by starting now unless you’re willing to wait a long, long time.

Whilst there is the horror stories of delays etc, with proper project management, early ordering and communication between client and builder prior to the project starting, these delays can be mitigated and allowed for in the project schedule.
